Recap by phillip woo

Flying Noble took control approaching the 200m following a handy run for a maiden win at his 10th start. He was too smart with a class drop. Well-backed late Vara Pearl came on nicely following a midfield run to easily take second. He too was suited by a downgrade and can win shortly if he remains in this grade at either track. Don Wongchoy stayed on well despite a prominent run without cover the entire trip from gate 14 to fill a placing. He's run well to place third in three straight runs now and could pop up at any time. Ambitious Speedy came on well after settling fourth from the rear from a wide gate to fill a Quartet spot. He's pretty honest at this level and will go close to winning shortly from a better draw. Punted late Happy Beauty left things too late travelling third from the rear. Even though he won a start earlier over the 1,400m a step up to a mile may suit him now. Torney found nothing following a one-off run sitting worse than midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (484) - KRETA AYER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters

GOOD METHOD was withdrawn on 10.3.18 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VARA PEARL (Z Purton).

Before being allowed to race again, GOOD METHOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

TORNEY began only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of SKYRAIDER which shifted in.

A STAR LUSTER began awkwardly and lost ground and then for some distance after the start got its head up and raced awkwardly when being shifted across behind runners.

THE GREATEST began only fairly and shortly after the start was shifted across behind runners.

CASH COURIER and HAPPY BEAUTY bumped at the start.

CASH COURIER then became unbalanced after bumping FLYING NOBLE, resulting in CASH COURIER shifting out and bumping the hindquarters of HAPPY BEAUTY which became unbalanced.

Approaching the 200 Metres, VARA PEARL raced tight inside DON WONGCHOY.

Throughout the race, DON WONGCHOY travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY HAPPY and TORNEY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FLYING NOBLE and VARA PEARL were sent for sampling.
