Recap by phillip woo

Perpetual Treasure hit the front three deep entering the straight after a deep run without cover near the speed the entire trip from a wide gate and kept on gamely to hold off surging of Arizona Blizzard for a fourth win from 11 outings over this course. He appreciated the drop in grade with the claim well utilised but is always a chance on this surface. Suited by the pace, Arizona Blizzard came home strongly after travelling next-to-last to finish a clear-cut second. He hasn't been easy to catch but certainly is capable of a big run on this surface. Harbour Alert ran his usual honest race to fill a placing without winning following a prominent run. Elite Spirit got up to fill a Quartet spot following a hand run along the fence. This is clearly his surface and he isn't far off a bottom. Well-punted late, King Mortar worked too hard after finding the front 1,030m out and was on his tippy toes 150m out in his initial run on this surface. It wasn't a bad effort but do prefer him back on the turf. Sunny Dragon had no excuse following a midfield run. Prefer him in Class Four. Drifting favourite Pakistan Baby only got by beaten rivals from out back. He might have had an off day after hitting the line well in four prior starts. Borntoachieve was flat following a midfield run. He's had too much racing of late.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (722)-HKU FACULTY OF ENGINEERING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Metres

MARQULA began awkwardly.

KING MORTAR began only fairly.

Near the 500 Metres, MARQULA became unbalanced when reluctant to maintain its position between horses.

A veterinary inspection of MARQULA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of MARQULA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MARQULA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Near the 250 Metres, ARIZONA BLIZZARD, which was closing off the race well, shifted out away from the heels of E-SUPER which was giving ground.

Then passing the 100 Metres, ARIZONA BLIZZARD got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in AMAZING RACE being inconvenienced and requiring M L Yeung, the rider of ARIZONA BLIZZARD, to straighten that horse.

Approaching the 50 Metres, PAKISTAN BABY was shifted in away from the heels of SUNNY DRAGON.

Throughout the race, PERPETUAL TREASURE travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned, U Rispoli (PAKISTAN BABY) stated that the tempo of the race today was quicker than at its last start when the horse performed well.

He said after beginning well, he had to ride PAKISTAN BABY vigorously throughout the race as the horse appeared reluctant to stretch out whilst resenting the kickback.

He said in the Straight PAKISTAN BABY finished off the race only fairly.

A veterinary inspection of PAKISTAN BABY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

A veterinary inspection of BORNTOACHIEVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

PAKISTAN BABY, PERPETUAL TREASURE and ARIZONA BLIZZARD were sent for sampling.
