Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Beat The Clock took control 200m out following a prominent run without cover for a fourth win from eight starts. He remains one to follow over the 1,200m and 1,400m. Limitless finished nicely near the outside to grab second carrying a big weight after settling much better in the run next to last following a stable and gear change. He's open to further improvement and might be more effective at a mile. Happy Agility stuck on well after stalking the speed for a placing. He rarely runs a bad race and remains a chance off a light weight in this grade. Speedster Adventurer has been a 1,000m specialist but gave a cheeky sight up front to hold fourth in a blanket finish for the final Quartet spot in his first attempt over the 1,400m. He might be hard to run down over the 1,200m. The Golden Age stuck on a lot better at his second local start but did have all favours in the box-seat. Little Dragon continued his genuine run of form to get up travelling fore of midfield to just miss a Quartet spot. He's better at a mile but on the dirt or at the Valley. Gold Land made some ground two from the right following a one-off run behind midfield. He has been showing some positive signs in two of his past three starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (721)-THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE CUP(HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1400Metres

LUCKY EVER was slow to begin.

From the outside barriers, CHATER LEGEND and LIMITLESS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

For some distance after the 1200 Metres, LUCKY EVER commenced to prove very difficult to settle and had to be checked away from the heels of LITTLE DRAGON.

When being checked, LUCKY EVER shifted in abruptly, resulting in ALL YOU WISH being checked when badly crowded for room.

When being shifted across behind MIDNIGHT RATTLER passing the 1150 Metres, HAPPY SPIRIT (H W Lai) clipped the heels of MIDNIGHT RATTLER and blundered.

H W Lai was reprimanded and told to be more attentive when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection of MIDNIGHT RATTLER immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained superficial abrasions to both hocks.

Passing the 1100 Metres, LIMITLESS got its head up when proving very difficult to settle.

GOLD LAND was held up for a run in the early part of the Straight and after the 350 Metres was shifted to the outside of horses to obtain clear running.

Approaching the 100 Metres, Apprentice M F Poon (GOLD LAND) dropped his whip.

In the Straight, LIMITLESS hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride.

For the majority of the race, BEAT THE CLOCK travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of HAPPY SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of HAPPY SPIRIT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY SPIRIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

BEAT THE CLOCK and LIMITLESS were sent for sampling.
