Sea Jade had just enough in the tank after showing brilliant speed to lead from a middle gate for a third straight win following a switch to the Valley despite a rise in class. At three years of age, he's open to more improvement. Molly's Jade Star was really finding his feet late after a box-seat run to make it close on the wire. He's doesn't know how to run a bad race and appears to have room to head higher. Verbinsky made it close on the wire after chasing the speed outside the runner-up. He's really found his niche following a switch to the Valley 1,200m and connections should consider stepping him up to a mile again. Archippus finished up nicely after trailing the field to finish a distant fourth. He can pop up at any time again after getting over them late for a win two back on the dirt. Happy Surveys was getting going late after travelling behind midfield following a sluggish break. He rarely runs a bad race over this course but is likely on his mark following a win in October. Golden Harvest made ground from the rear but needs to strike an easier test.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (333)-CHOI HUNG HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Metres

The Veterinary Officer reported that when presented at the saddling stalls HAPPY YEAH YEAH was distressed.

Acting on veterinary advice that HAPPY YEAH YEAH was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY YEAH YEAH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

HAPPY SURVEYS began only fairly.

From a wide barrier, ARCHIPPUS was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.

From the outside barriers, GOLDEN HARVEST and DRAGON GENERAL were shifted cross behind runners in the early stages.

Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres, ARCHIPPUS got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of GOLDEN HARVEST.

Passing the 800 Metres, ARCHIPPUS got its head up when proving difficult to settle.

Making the turn after the 600 Metres, TRIUMPHANT JEWEL raced tight inside BLOCKER DEE which also raced tight inside CHARITY JOY.

DRAGON GENERAL made the Home Turn awkwardly and then in the Straight gave ground.

A veterinary inspection of DRAGON GENERAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned, M Chadwick (CHARITY JOY) stated that it was anticipated that tonight's race would be run at a very good tempo with most of the speed horses being drawn more favourably than CHARITY JOY.

He said therefore he was asked to attempt to obtain a position in midfield with cover if possible rather than become involved in a speed battle and possibly be left racing wide.

He said passing the 900 Metres it appeared as though he may have been able to obtain a position with cover behind BLOCKER DEE, however, HAPPY SURVEYS was ridden along to maintain its position to the inside of CHARITY JOY and consequently his mount was left racing three wide and without cover throughout the race.

A veterinary inspection of BERLINI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.

SEA JADE and MOLLY'S JADE STAR were sent for sampling.
