Racing Incident Report
Race One: (326)-SHUN TIN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres
GOLDEN PARTNERS was slow to begin.YOURTHEWONFORME and MY BLESSING bumped at the start.
PRECISIONCRAFTSMAN was crowded for room on jumping between MALAYAN PEARL and LAUGHING LORD which shifted out.
From wide barriers, MY BLESSING and BEST JADE TRIUMPH were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, GLORY STAR got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied to obtain cover and passing the 1500 Metres shifted in and bumped MALAYAN PEARL.
For some distance after the winning post on the first occasion, WEALTHY FORTUNE proved difficult to settle when being steadied after racing wide.
Passing the 1300 Metres, WEALTHY FORTUNE and GOLDEN PARTNERS bumped.
A Badel (YOURTHEWONFORME) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GOLDEN PARTNERS, causing that horse to be taken in onto MY BLESSING which was checked and lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled.
BEST JADE TRIUMPH, which was following MY BLESSING, was hampered in consequence.
A Badel was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 2 February 2017 and to expire on Monday, 6 February 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Badel's good race riding record.
Passing the 900 Metres, MY BLESSING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN PARTNERS.
Approaching the 500 Metres, LUCKY BALL was struck over the nose by the whip of K Teetan (DOUBLE POINT).
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on DOUBLE POINT at the request of Trainer C Fownes.
The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE POINT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of MY BLESSING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GLORY STAR and GOLDEN PARTNERS were sent for sampling.

Favourite Glory Star closed off strongly after settling one off in midfield to take control 50m out for a second career win at his 22nd start and first under Joao Moreira. On his past form, he'll certainly find it harder with a return to Class Four. Golden Partners finished strongly out wide to snatch second after jumping a lot better than usual to settle third from the rear. His performance depends on the start. Super Sweet Orange grudgingly gave way after finding the front leaving the first bend. He's run well to place in his past two starts and will be winning shortly if he remains in this class. Punted late, Laughing Lord came up flat inside the final 150m after enjoying a lovely run in the box-seat. He'll need to drop lower in the handicaps carrying a featherweight to make it closer at the finish. Precisioncraftsman made some ground travelling worse than midfield to just miss a first-4 spot. He might be better suited over the Valley 1,800m. Wealthy Fortune made some ground without menacing from near the back. He's in the right grade but will need 1,800m on a wet track.
