Recap by phillip woo

Ocean Roar settled one off in second from a wide gate, straightened four deep and prevailed 100m out after dueling with Ambitious Glory over the final 200m with a return over his pet distance at the Valley. Ambitious Glory tracked the leading pair near the fence, straightened three deep and kept on well to make it close on the wire. Triumphant Jewel led from gate nine, cornered a length on top and peaked on his run 100m out in an improved effort with a switch to the Valley. Favourite Golden Bauhinia travelled one-out, one-back, straightened five deep and plugged on without ever looking a place chance. Manipulation held his ground following a midfield run along the rails. Our Honour had to be inspected by the vet before being passed to run. He settled one off in midfield and kept up an even gallop in the drive. Jumbo Spirit made some ground from near the back in his debut. Elegant Frames never fired a shot after going back from a wide gate. He just doesn't perform at this course. Punted late, Highland Dragon was struggling soon after straightening after being posted without cover in fifth from a wide gate.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (105)-OI MAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Metres

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of WHISTLE BLOWER on Monday, 20 October 2014 after being advised by Dr P Curl, Executive Manager, Veterinary Regulation that the horse had been inadvertently treated.

Accordingly, WHISTLE BLOWER was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MANIPULATION.

This matter was brought to the attention of Dr Curl by Mr P O"Sullivan, the trainer of WHISTLE BLOWER.

An inquiry into the circumstances of this matter will be conducted at the Happy Valley Inquiry Room on Thursday, 23 October 2014 at 2:30 pm.

After being loaded into the barriers, OUR HONOUR momentarily got its head down.

OUR HONOUR was removed from the barriers and inspected by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

Before being allowed to race again, OUR HONOUR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that an inspection of OUR HONOUR found the horse to have sustained a small wound to the tip of the right ear and head.

OUR HONOUR began awkwardly.

JUMBO SPIRIT, which was slow to begin, shifted out shortly after the start and bumped the hindquarters of ALL PALS which became unbalanced.

On jumping, ELEGANT FRAMES was checked when crowded for room between HIGHLAND DRAGON which shifted in marginally and OCEAN ROAR which was taken out by TRIUMPHANT JEWEL.

In this incident, HIGHLAND DRAGON became very unbalanced after being bumped heavily on the hindquarters by ELEGANT FRAMES.

After travelling a short distance, DRAGON ENERGY was steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN BAUHINIA which shifted out away from CITY POWER.

Approaching and passing the 600 Metres, GOLDEN BAUHINIA and HIGHLAND DRAGON raced tight.

Shortly after entering the Straight, OUR HONOUR was shifted in away from the heels of HIGHLAND DRAGON.

Throughout the race, HIGHLAND DRAGON travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of HIGHLAND DRAGON immediately following the race confirmed the horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

GOLDEN BAUHINIA, OCEAN ROAR and AMBITIOUS GLORY were sent for sampling.
