Horse No 1 GRATEFUL HEART (D278) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 CALIFORNIA DEEPLY (G451) Y L Chung As the start was effected became fractious and as a result was slow to begin.
Over the concluding stages, when commencing to finish the race off well, improved into a tight run to the inside of E UNIVERSE when that runner was commencing to give ground and shift in and as a result could not be fully ridden out to the finish of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 EXPLOSIVE WITNESS (B001) J McDonald When questioned, J McDonald stated that the intention was to hold a midfield position on the horse, but EXPLOSIVE WITNESS commenced well tonight and established a forward position soon after the start.
He said his intention was to shift in and race to the outside of E UNIVERSE, however, when HEROIC MASTER, which had drawn barrier 1, shifted to a one-off position, he was then obliged to race wide and without cover.
He added that near the 800 Metres he endeavoured to restrain EXPLOSIVE WITNESS to obtain cover behind HEROIC MASTER, but when his mount commenced to race keenly and would not respond to his efforts to come back, he was obliged to race wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.
Horse No 4 HEROIC MASTER (G394) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 HUMBLE STAR (H125) Z Purton Approaching the 900 Metres raced tight to the inside of GRATEFUL HEART.

Horse No 7 YOUTH POWER (H358) K C Leung Slow to begin.
Horse No 8 E UNIVERSE (H151) M L Yeung Over the concluding stages was unable to be ridden out to the finish when being corrected by its rider M L Yeung due to it shifting in and crowding the running of CALIFORNIA DEEPLY.

Early favourite Humble Star enjoyed a perfect run fourth along the fence and got up in deep stretch to make it two victories on the trot despite his seven-point penalty. He should remain in the grade and could win again. Grateful Heart ran on nicely widest out to overhaul post-time favourite Heroic Master in the final few strides for second after making his run from one off the rail in midfield. He is racing well without winning. Heroic Master grudgingly gave way after prompting the pace outside leader E Universe. He has run well carrying more weight in his past two starts following his October victory. Explosive Witness plugged on reasonably well after being cast wide without cover on the speed. It was another honest effort. E Universe gave way over the last 100m after turning the final bend one length on top. It was the best of his four starts this season, but he is better suited to Class Four contests. Jolly Ruler ran on from towards the rear without threatening the placegetters. The 1,000m trip is too short for him. California Deeply was a non-factor after standing in the stalls and missing the kick by two lengths.
