Racing Incident Report
Race One : (148) - BIG WAVE BAY HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 RATTAN WORLD (G384) K De Melo Slow to begin.
Horse No 2 CHARMING STEED (E494) K H Chan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 SPICY SO SMART (G203) A Hamelin When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, Trainer P C Ng stated that at its last start the instructions were to lead, however, SPICY SO SMART was caught racing wide and without cover from the outside barrier and as a result gave ground in the Home Straight.
He said tonight from a more favourable barrier SPICY SO SMART commenced so well and was able to lead without being pressured in the early stages and consequently finished the race off well and this was the main reason for its improved performance.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 BRAVE AND BOLD (H275) B Avdulla Crowded on jumping.
Horse No 5 DEVIL AND GOLD (G443) M F Poon Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied when racing tight to the inside of HAPPILY FRIENDS.
Horse No 6 SOARING TOWER (D500) A Atzeni After the race, A Atzeni explained that he had concern with his mount's action during the running of the event and as a result retired it from the race passing the 600 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SOARING TOWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 DASHING TRIUMPH (G341) Z Purton Steadied when crowded shortly after the start.
In the early stages raced keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
After the race, Z Purton reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the event and failed to run on when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
Before being allowed to race again, DASHING TRIUMPH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 HAPPILY FRIENDS (C533) M Chadwick Crowded on jumping.
Approaching the 1000 Metres was steadied and taken in by CHARMING STEED (K H Chan) which shifted in when not clear.
K H Chan was reprimanded.
Horse No 9 NOBLE BOYZ (E156) K C Leung Near the 1100 Metres was steadied to avoid CHARMING STEED (K H Chan) which shifted in when not quite clear before being corrected by its rider.
K H Chan was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 10 FORTUNE TURBO (G316) H T Mo Jumped awkwardly.
Horse No 11 BELL OF VICTORY (G116) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan stated that after being held up for some distance after the 300 Metres when improving into a narrow run between DASHING TRIUMPH and TUNG HAYE HAYE, BELL OF VICTORY finished the race off only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 TUNG HAYE HAYE (G105) Y L Chung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Punted late, Spicy So Smart easily found the front from gate six, exited the home turn two lengths ahead and kept on gamely to register his first win on his ninth start. Charming Steed stayed on nicely for second after chasing the leading pair one off the fence. He is a winner waiting to happen at this course at this level. Rattan World ran on very well in the dying stages to fill a placing after beginning slowly and settling third last. Noble Boyz kept on all right after racing prominently without cover in the early stages. He is naturally coming to hand this season. Happily Friends weakened over the final 100m after his speed-chasing run. He was disappointing after placing second in both of his opening two races this term. Brave And Bold ran on steadily from worse than midfield without threatening the placegetters after saving ground in running. He performed OK, but his rating has yet to bottom out after his three outings this season. Favourite Dashing Triumph did not land a blow after travelling one off the rail worse than midfield.
