Recap by phillip woo

Plunged late in betting, Fortune Warrior went forward three wide from the outside gate, reached the lead 500m out and scrambled home for his first Hong Kong win on his eighth local start. He caught the eye last time and justified the market support. Another well-backed runner, Super Fast Dragon, dashed strongly down the outside to make it close. He improved for swapping Sha Tin for Happy Valley. Colourful Prince found a couple too good after his prominent run near the inside. He proved his long-priced last-start second was not fluke. He could ring up a victory soon. Savvy Delight finished well to just miss a placing after travelling one off the fence worse than midfield. He has produced mixed results in his four starts this season. E Brother produced a grinding effort after settling forward of midfield. It was a better effort second up this term on his return to Happy Valley. King Invincible made his run four from the rear and ran on without threatening the placegetters. He has been costly to follow in his three races this term. Sergeant Pepper found little in the run to the wire after handing up the lead.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (151) - MIDDLE BAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 SERGEANT PEPPER (E432) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton could offer no excuse for his mount's failure to finish the race off strongly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in its trachea and also found the horse to have sustained minor lacerations to both hind legs.

Before being allowed to race again, SERGEANT PEPPER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.
