Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite June Planet travelled third last but quickened nicely to take control 100m out and make it two wins on the bounce. He should hold his own up in grade under a light weight. Fearless Fire closed well after his midfield run one off the fence but was no match for the winner. He is always a chance over this Happy Valley trip and appeared fitter following his unplaced starts first and second up. Beauty Mission settled last from the outside gate and encountered traffic problems early in the home straight before running on well to fill a placing. He built on his positive performance over 1,400m last month. Durham Star ran on steadily from midfield to fill the frame. He continues to cost punters dearly. Little Fairy ran on late down the outside to finish the next best. It was an OK effort on his first run beyond 1,200m. Legion Of Merit took out from his wide in-running position to lead rounding the final bend but ran out of gas with 100m remaining. It was a better effort. Yeaboi disappointed his backers after getting all the favours in the box seat. His win in June is beginning to look like a fluke.
