Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (671) - VICTORIA HARBOUR HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters
ASTROLOGER was withdrawn on 15.5.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KEEP YOU WARM.
Before being allowed to race again, ASTROLOGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GRATEFUL HEART was crowded shortly after the start by HARMONY AND RICH which shifted out.
On jumping, ADIOS shifted out and away from HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE, resulting in PACKING TREADMILL and EASON being crowded for room between ADIOS and MAJESTIC STAR.
In this incident, MAJESTIC STAR made contact with EASON and became unbalanced.
MAJESTIC STAR was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
ATOMIC FORCE jumped awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was attempted to be shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
ATOMIC FORCE then over-raced throughout the early and middle stages and near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from EASON, shifted out and was then allowed to stride forward after the 900 Metres.
After the race, H Bowman (PACKING TREADMILL) reported that with the genuine pace of the event, PACKING TREADMILL did not travel well at any stage and raced in a disappointing manner.
A veterinary inspection of PACKING TREADMILL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
EASON and HOWDEEPISYOURLOVE were sent for sampling.

Specked late, Eason pipped favourite Howdeepisyourlove down the outside after a patient ride fourth last. It was his fifth win and his first Class Two victory. He had caught the eye last time. Howdeepisyourlove ran on nicely from midfield to narrowly miss. The nine-pound swing in the weights was the difference. It was another fine effort after winning his last three runs over this course. Harmony And Rich kept on gamely after jumping well to lead. He was able to build on his front-running fifth following a stable change. Adios loomed as a winning chance after getting all the favours in the box seat but peaked on his run. He might be on or near his mark after winning four starts ago. Majestic Star came from last to finish next best. It was a pleasing performance resuming from his bleeding attack. Whizz Kid had no more to offer over the final 100m after his speed-chasing run. He does not stay 1,200m. Atomic Force came up flat over the final 200m after improving from last to sit behind midfield 800m out. He had an excuse from gate 11. Packing Treadmill never got involved from towards the rear.
