Racing Incident Report
Race Five: (562) - PEEL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
CIRCUIT ELITE jumped awkwardly, shifted out and brushed NUNCHUKS.
COPARTNER ERA and BULB PRINCE bumped at the start.
ORIENTAL SPIRIT (L Hewitson) jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped LEATHER MASTER.
When being steadied then to obtain cover in the early stages, ORIENTAL SPIRIT got its head up when over-racing.
After the race, L Hewitson stated that his instructions from a wide barrier were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as ORIENTAL SPIRIT had raced disappointingly when asked to race in a forward position at its last race start.
Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions issued.
A veterinary inspection of ORIENTAL SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
From a wide barrier, CLASSIC ARCHI was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
For a short distance near the 1000 Metres, BULB PRINCE raced keenly after being crossed by SUPERB MOVE.
Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres, PUBLICIST was held up for clear running behind CIRCUIT ELITE.
SUPERB MOVE was inclined to lay in in the Straight.
LEATHER MASTER raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection of COPARTNER ERA and CLASSIC ARCHI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SMILING COLLECTOR and PERFETTO were sent for sampling.

Punted late Smiling Collector just got the bob down to win by a lip after hitting the front 150m out following a handy run for a second career win at his 10th start. He relished a step up in distance after notching seconds in two of his past three 1,400m starts. Favourite Perfetto came from last and down the outside to just miss by a pimple. He lost nothing in defeat carrying top weight. Superb Move ran on nicely to finish a close third after a one off trip from behind midfield. He was able to build on a closing seventh 14 days ago over 1,400m, his first run back after a long break. Publicist got up to fill a quartet spot after splitting the front running pair of Circuit Elite and Nunchuks 200m out from midfield. It was another honest performance. Bulb Prince made a steady bid to finish next best after making his run five back and one off the fence. He has been around the mark in four of five starts this term but is still working out the kinks.
