Racing Incident Report
Race Ten: (567) - POLLOCK HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1400Meters
THE GOLDEN SCENERY jumped only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
FANTASTIC TREASURE also jumped only fairly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From a wide barrier, GRATEFUL HEART was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
FLAMING RABBIT raced wide and without cover after the 700 Metres.
THE GOLDEN SCENERY raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 700 Metres was steadied away from LUCKY WITH YOU.
Near the 400 Metres, THE GOLDEN SCENERY became held up behind LUCKY WITH YOU and approaching the 300 Metres shifted to the inside of LUCKY WITH YOU to obtain clear running.
Near the 200 Metres, THE GOLDEN SCENERY became held up behind CIRCUIT STELLAR and then could not be fully tested until near the 50 Metres when it shifted to the outside of CIRCUIT STELLAR.
Near the 350 Metres, GRATEFUL HEART was held up for clear running behind RED LION before being shifted to the outside of RED LION where it then experienced difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind SUNNY STAR and as a result did not obtain clear running until near the 150 Metres.
After the 300 Metres, FANTASTIC TREASURE was directed to the outside of SUNNY STAR to obtain clear running.
RED LION was held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres where it secured clear running between FLAMING RABBIT and PACKING TREADMILL.
After the race, S De Sousa (POWER KOEPP) advised that with the horse stepping up in distance today and carrying light weight, he was requested to take up a forward position on POWER KOEPP, preferably behind the lead with cover.
He added that when caught wide in the early stages and unable to obtain cover, he was obliged to ride POWER KOEPP forward to cross FLAMING RABBIT which resulted in POWER KOEPP racing more forward than intended.
Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions issued.
Also after the race, H N Wong (TRUE LEGEND) stated that despite being ridden along in the early stages, his mount failed to show sufficient pace to take up a more forward position.
Following the race, RED LION was noted to have blood at its mouth.
A veterinary inspection of PACKING TREADMILL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RED LION and FANTASTIC TREASURE were sent for sampling.

Odds-on favourite Red Lion kept finding to hold off the late surge of Fantastic Treasure after hitting the front 160m out despite getting badly held up from 400m until the 200m travelling midfield. He's now won his past two of eight starts and has the tools to head higher. Fantastic Treasure dashed late down the outside to make it close after making his run one from the rear. He's appreciated the step back to 1,400m to place second in his past two starts. Flaming Rabbit stayed on nicely to just take third after a prominent run wide without cover. It was an eye-catching run on his local debut. Sunny Star ran on nicely after biding his time three from the rear to just miss a placing. It was a fine effort following a stable change off a 200-day injury induced absence. Circuit Stellar weakened in the run to the wire after getting pestered for the front 750m out by Power Koepp leading from a tricky gate. The big weight took its toll after back-to-back wins.
