Recap by phillip woo
Short-priced favourite California Spangle dug deep to get up near 100m after a speed-chasing run for a fourth Group success from seven starts this term. He's very classy. Plunged late Money Catcher stayed on nicely for second after slotting eventually in the one-one from a wide draw. It was a solid effort over a distance short of his best. Sensationally-backed Beauty Joy plugged on nicely to finish a close third after a box seat run. He's honest but has trouble winning at this level. Healthy Happy grudgingly gave way after clearing to the lead from gate six. He's not easy to get right. Running Glory ran on steadily to finish next best without menacing the top four from midfield. It wasn't a bad effort with a step back in distance and significant rise in class. Tourbillon Diamond ran on without threatening from the rear of the field. He's disappointed in his past two starts. Waikuku just plodded after a handy run. He's beyond his better days.
