Pleasant Endeavor quickened nicely to get up 30m out from midfield carrying top weight to ring up a fourth career win from 15 starts. Noble One came on very well to finish a close second travelling fourth last near the far side. He's shown good progress in his past two of three outings this term and is crying out for a longer trip. Favourite Big Me was swamped late after moving to the front near the 200m chasing the speed in the centre of the track. It was pleasing effort carrying more weight following a debut win. Sensationally-backed Amazing Rocky found a few just too good after a prominent run from a low draw. He has trouble winning but it was another honest effort. United We Stand grudgingly gave way prompting the pace on the far side from a tough gate one. He's not easy to get right but is well rated. Flying High never landed a blow travelling midfield near the far side. Cheval Valiant tamely faded after dictating the run as expected. It was an out-of-character effort. Newcomer Savvy Chic was badly held up over the last 150m travelling behind midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (96) - PARMIGIANI FLEURIER EXCELLENT HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters

WE ARE HERO was withdrawn on 14.10.22 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SAVVY CHIC (S De Sousa).

Before being allowed to race again, WE ARE HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

DIVINE ERA lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and was slow to begin.

FLYING HIGH shifted out at the start and bumped BIG ME.

FLYING HIGH was then brushed on the hindquarters a short distance after the start by GENEROUS FRIEND which shifted out.

HEI WONGCHOY and DASHING TRIUMPH bumped on jumping.

CHEVAL VALIANT began awkwardly.

Approaching the 700 Metres, SAVVY CHIC momentarily raced tight between HEI WONGCHOY and GLORY BO BO which was racing tight outside BIG ME.

Approaching the 400 Metres, DIVINE ERA was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG HORIZON and passing the 400 Metres was shifted to the outside of that horse.

After this, YOUNG HORIZON got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.

Approaching the 200 Metres, DASHING TRIUMPH was steadied when crowded for room outside DIVINE ERA (M L Yeung) which, when shifting to the outside of SAVVY CHIC in an attempt to obtain clear running, was taken out further by that horse which was racing tight outside GLORY BO BO.

Whilst there were some circumstances to this incident, in particular the movement from SAVVY CHIC, nonetheless M L Yeung was reprimanded and told to ensure that there is sufficient racing room for him to improve into when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

For some distance after the 200 Metres, PLEASANT ENDEAVOR raced tight outside the heels of AMAZING ROCKY.

After the 200 Metres, NOBLE ONE shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside GLORY BO BO.

After the 150 Metres, DIVINE ERA was shifted to the inside of SAVVY CHIC when held up for running behind that horse which itself was badly held up behind CHEVAL VALIANT as that horse commenced to give ground.

Because of this, SAVVY CHIC was not able to be properly tested over the latter stages of the race.

The performance of HEI WONGCHOY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HEI WONGCHOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

When questioned regarding the performance of DASHING TRIUMPH, H T Mo stated that the horse had barrier trialed satisfactorily in the lead up to today's race when not positioned amongst horses.

He said in today's race DASHING TRIUMPH did not show any early speed and throughout the race was hesitant to maintain its position in the early and middle stages when racing back in the field.

He added that DASHING TRIUMPH did not quicken over the latter stages of the race and, in his opinion, was very disappointing.

A veterinary inspection of DASHING TRIUMPH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on AMAZING ROCKY at the request of Trainer T P Yung.

The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, AMAZING ROCKY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of CHEVAL VALIANT and HEI WONGCHOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

BIG ME, PLEASANT ENDEAVOR and NOBLE ONE were sent for sampling.
