Recap by phillip woo
Debutant Island Golden did a lot wrong in the run but still drew clear after dictating the run for a convincing win as the firming favourite despite tending to wandering about for a majority of the stretch run. He has a bright future. Young Sparkle stayed on a clear-cut second after getting all favours in the box seat. It was a good effort after staying on well for thirds in two Griffin outings last term. Super Move just got up to win a blanket finish for third after cornering with one wider out following a prominent run. It was his best run from six starts. Joyful Champion came from last to just miss a placing. He's still learning and may require a longer trip. Lean Hero made some ground late near the inside to just miss the frame after biding his time one from the rear. He's still a work in progress and likely wants a further trip. Inspiring City was already plodding when impeded by the winner Island Golden 300m out following a pace-stalking run. He needs more time and experience. Noble Ace finished last after a wide trip towards the rear. He had an excuse but requires more education.
