Recap by phillip woo
Three-year-old Forever Friends held off a stern challenge from favourite Happy Won over the final 200m after poking his head in front 250m out following a pace-stalking run for a second-up win. Happy Won had his chance but couldn't quite match the winner in the drive to the wire after drawing nearly level 200m out following a one-out, one-back run. He's run well in both starts and has the tools to get away with a race or two next season. Lean Hero ran on nicely to finish a close third after a box-seat run. It was an improved effort with a step up to 1,200m at his second start. Joyful Champion weakened over the last 100m after dictating a slow tempo from gate one. He'll need more time and experience. Punted late Inspiring City ran on without menacing after over-racing at the rear of the field. He wasn't suited by the pace of the race. Our Precious came to win the race 300m out travelling midfield but peaked on his run 100m out. He'll need more time. Superb Move never landed a blow making his run towards the rear. He hasn't shown much in his four starts and the future does not look bright at the moment.
