Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (708) - THE LION ROCK TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1600Meters
SILVER EXPRESS shifted out at the start and bumped CHAMPION'S WAY.
From the outside barriers, CHEERFUL DAYS and MIGHTY GIANT were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1400 Metres, SAVVY NINE raced tight inside BEAUTY JOY which in turn was racing tight inside MY SUGAR.
For some distance after the 1000 Metres, BEAUTY JOY got its head up and became unbalanced of its own accord.
Then after being shifted out behind SILVER EXPRESS approaching and passing the 600 Metres, BEAUTY JOY again got its head up on a number of occasions.
Passing the 200 Metres, SAVVY NINE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHEERFUL DAYS.
After the 200 Metres, CHAMPION'S WAY raced tight inside MY SUGAR.
When questioned regarding his riding out of EXCELLENT PROPOSAL close to the finishing line, J Moreira stated that he had to commence to ride EXCELLENT PROPOSAL along prior to the 700 Metres to improve its position.
He said as EXCELLENT PROPOSAL was not quickening, he had to place the horse under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres and then had to continually ride it along in the Home Straight in order to achieve the best placing.
He said over the concluding stages EXCELLENT PROPOSAL was not finishing the race off strongly and therefore he put the whip away after the 50 Metres but continued to push the horse out with his left hand.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that J Moreira's riding out of EXCELLENT PROPOSAL over the concluding stages had not breached the Rules of Racing, he was nonetheless told to ensure that he rides his mounts with sufficient vigour so that his riding out of horses is not open to question.
BEAUTY JOY and CHEERFUL DAYS were sent for sampling.

Firming favourite Beauty Joy was repeatedly not settling and throwing his head in the run but eventually got going to take control 150m out after a handy run for a fourth win from six starts after for the Tony Cruz camp this season. He's got a stack of ability. Cheerful Days ran on well to grab second after straightening two from the rear. He relished a step back to a mile here. My Sugar kept on gamely for a placing after chasing the speed one-off in third. It was another game effort despite a rise in class. Silver Express found a few too good after moving to the lead 200m out tracking the leader Healthy Happy. He found this a bit too rich. Excellent Proposal ran on without menacing after biding his time one from the rear. He proved costly yet again after a placing behind Golden Sixty last start. Champion's Way ran on steadily without threatening from towards the rear. The big weight took its toll. Savvy Nine produced a mild bid after a rails run behind midfield. The mile trip is too sharp. Healthy Happy didn't have much over the last 150m after getting his own way in front. He's not racing well at the moment.
