Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (386) - PROSPERITY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
SPARKY STAR began only fairly.
MAXIMIZE HEART was crowded for room on jumping between LUCKY QUALITY and DAN IMPACT, both of which shifted ground.
SUPER FAST began awkwardly and was brushed on jumping by CHEERFUL LEADER.
After this, from a wide barrier, SUPER FAST was steadied and shifted across behind runners.
From a wide barrier, RING BELLS was also steadied to obtain cover shortly after the start.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, MAXIMIZE HEART raced tight outside LUCKY QUALITY which shifted out when being ridden along.
For some distance in the early stages, MOERAKI (Z Purton) got its head up and proved very difficult to settle when being steadied to obtain cover behind PLIKCLONE.
MOERAKI continued to travel keenly approaching the 900 Metres and again got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PLIKCLONE.
After the race, Z Purton reported that based on the manner in which MOERAKI travelled in the early and middle stages, he was of the view that the horse may be better suited by back in distance.
A veterinary inspection of MOERAKI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the 900 Metres, SNOWALOT was left racing wide and without cover.
At the 650 Metres, LUCKY QUALITY and MAXIMIZE HEART raced tight and bumped as MAXIMIZE HEART shifted out to improve into tight running between LUCKY QUALITY and SPARKY STAR.
Near the 500 Metres, MOERAKI was steadied away from the heels of PLIKCLONE when being awkwardly placed behind that horse.
Rounding the Home Turn, SPARKY STAR was held up for clear running behind SHINING RED.
At the entrance to the Straight, MAXIMIZE HEART was awkwardly placed behind SNOWALOT when commencing to improve between that horse and LUCKY QUALITY.
Near the 350 Metres, SPARKY STAR momentarily raced tight inside SHINING RED which shifted in under pressure before being directed out to relieve the crowding.
After the 200 Metres, SUPER FAST raced tight inside CHEERFUL LEADER which shifted in under pressure.
CHEERFUL LEADER was then directed out to relieve the crowding to SUPER FAST.
When being directed out, CHEERFUL LEADER struck the heels of BRAVE DREAMS (M Chadwick) which also shifted in under pressure at this time.
As the Stewards were of the opinion that this incident was as a result of both CHEERFUL LEADER and BRAVE DREAMS shifting ground, no further action was taken other than M Chadwick was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground under pressure.
Over the concluding stages, RING BELLS was unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
A veterinary inspection of DAN IMPACT and CHEERFUL LEADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HAPPY DAILY, MAXIMIZE HEART and SPARKY STAR were sent for sampling.

The well-backed Maximize Heart quickened nicely through the middle after a rails run behind midfield to grab victory 100m out. The return to blinkers first up worked the oracle following a suspensory injury. Sparky Star ran on well along the inside to finish a close second after saving ground in midfield from gate one. He was first-up for his new trainer after bleeding and a leg injury but had flashed ability to place in two of seven previous starts. Happy Daily came from last and widest out to make it close on the wire. It was another fine effort carrying top weight. Lucky Quality had no more to offer 50m out after briefly finding the front 200m out after settling deep with cover in midfield under a hustling ride. It was an improved effort. Plikclone whacked on one-paced after going forward from a wide gate to stalk the speed one-off the fence. He's better ridden further off the pace. Moeraki found nothing after a one-off run better than midfield. He's well rated. Cheerful Leader found nothing after settling fourth last from a wide draw. The run was a reflection of his drifting quote despite seconds in back-to-back runs.
