Early favourite Cordyceps Six did lug in badly under pressure 150m out but quicky balanced up and took control 80m after a handy run in the middle of the track to add to his fabulous form over the straight 1,000m with a third win this season. Alcari came on better than midfield hugging the outside fence to grab second in deep stretch. He continues to race very well. Firming favourite Whizz Kid quickly found the front after a sluggish start but was running on empty 50m out. He found a couple too smart at this level following a win in Class Four. War Weapon came from last at the 800m to make it close for third. It was a nice effort trying the straight 1,000m for the first time after a stable change. Well-punte late We Are Hero made some ground to finish next best without threatening the top-four travelling midfield in the centre of the course. Equaletta Blitz came from towards the rear to just miss a pay slip. It wasn't a bad run. Newcomer Coming Patch ran on without threatening after biding his time one from the rear. He'll come on for this run but prefers 1,200m or even 1,400m.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (387) - GOOD FORTUNE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

GLORIOUS STARLIGHT, which was fractious in the barriers, began only fairly and then shifted in on jumping towards the heels of GINSON which also shifted out.

WE ARE HERO stumbled on jumping.

EQUALETTA BLITZ lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and began only fairly.

COMING PATCH was slow to begin.

BRILLIANT PIONEER began only fairly and shifted out towards the heels of ALCARI.

Approaching the 600 Metres, COMING PATCH raced tight outside WAR WEAPON which was taken out marginally by BRILLIANT PIONEER which itself was awkwardly placed outside the heels of WE ARE HERO.

After this, WAR WEAPON got its head on the side and lay out, resulting in COMING PATCH continuing to race in restricted room outside that horse.

Approaching the 250 Metres, CORDYCEPS SIX commenced to lay out, resulting in WILD WEST WING being momentarily shifted out away from the heels of that horse.

CORDYCEPS SIX then hung out under pressure passing the 200 Metres.

Approaching the 50 Metres, WHIZZ KID shifted in away from ALCARI towards the heels of CORDYCEPS SIX (B Shinn) which also continued to shift out.

Whilst the Stewards accepted that WHIZZ KID had shifted in at this time towards the heels of CORDYCEPS SIX, nonetheless B Shinn was told to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground even in difficult circumstances.

The performance of GLORIOUS STARLIGHT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS STARLIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of GLORIOUS STARLIGHT immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a minor laceration to the left hind fetlock.

WHIZZ KID, CORDYCEPS SIX and ALCARI were sent for sampling.
