Racing Incident Report
Race Two: (206) - CHEVALIER CAR DEALERSHIP HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1600Meters
DECISIVE ACTION was withdrawn on 26.11.21 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VIVA POPCORN (M Chadwick).
Before being allowed to race again, DECISIVE ACTION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GO GO SIXTEEN and BIG BROOK bumped at the start.
SUPER ELEGANCE began awkwardly and was then bumped by LEADING FORTUNE which shifted in.
VIVA POPCORN began only fairly.
From wide barriers, VITRALITE and FULL POWER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching and passing the 1200 Metres, SMART FOLKS was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DARCI JOY (K C Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear.
K C Leung was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
After the 1000 Metres, LEADING FORTUNE was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 800 Metres, GO GO SIXTEEN was taken wider and without cover by LIGHT OF WANSHI which shifted out away from the heels of SMART FOLKS to follow LEADING FORTUNE.
LIGHT OF WANSHI got its head on the side and lay out in the early part of the Straight.
When questioned, K C Leung stated that he was asked to ride DARCI JOY similarly to its last start, that is to have the horse positioned in advance of midfield if possible.
He said it was felt that a number of horses drawn outside DARCI JOY would be ridden to take up a forward position and therefore he was asked to ride DARCI JOY positively in the early stages, clear runners to his inside and then allow them to cross DARCI JOY which would hopefully result in it being ridden in about 5th or 6th position.
He said in accordance with his instructions he ensured DARCI JOY began positively and was able to clear SMART FOLKS near the 1200 Metres to obtain a position one horse off the rail.
He said when only OSCAR GLORY and GOOD HEALTH improved their position forward of DARCI JOY, this resulted in DARCI JOY being slightly more forward than had been anticipated.
He added nonetheless DARCI JOY travelled comfortably in the middle stages and then finished off the race well.
A veterinary inspection of GO GO SIXTEEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LIGHT OF WANSHI and DARCI JOY were sent for sampling.

Favourite Light Of Wanshi easily got up 100m out for the win three from the right after shifting a position further out with cover behind midfield 600m out. He had hit the well in two prior starts and lived up to a nice trial on the dirt. Darci Joy ran on well to grab second late after settling one-out, one-back from a tricky gate. It was another good effort after a last-start win. Well-backed Oscar Glory grudgingly gave way after finding the fence in front from a wide draw 1,300m out. He's given a good sight in his three starts and can steal a race shortly. Punted late Plikclone just finished out of the placings but did get every chance in the box-seat. It was another honest effort despite a rise in trip. Viva Popcorn made ground late down the outside after showing his usual lack of speed travelling towards the back. He's run with merit in back-to-back runs. Vitralite made good ground from last in his best run to date from 11 starts and second after joining the David Ferraris camp. Smart Patch got by half the field making his run near the back from a wide draw. It was a better run following a downgrade. Leading Fortune will sleep well after travelling worse than midfield without cover three-to-four deep the entire trip.
