Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (212) - CHEVALIER LIFTS & ESCALATORS HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters
PERFECT TO GREAT, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin.
KASI FARASI shifted out at the start and brushed FUNCTION PATCH.
From wide barriers, CHAMPION DRAGON, HIT THE SHOT and WINNING DRAGON were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
When being steadied to obtain cover, WINNING DRAGON shifted in passing the 1500 Metres and was awkwardly placed outside the heels of HIT THE SHOT.
PERFECT MARYKNOLL brushed the running rail approaching the 900 Metres and became unbalanced.
PERFECT TO GREAT, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.
Passing the 900 Metres, FUNCTION PATCH raced close to the heels of XIANG YIN.
After the 900 Metres, KING TOURBILLON was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching and passing the 700 Metres, FUNCTION PATCH raced tight between CHAMPION DRAGON and PERFECT TO GREAT which shifted out away from the heels of PERFECT MARYKNOLL.
Passing the 400 Metres, PACKING FAMOUS momentarily raced in restricted room between SUPER TEN and SOULMATE which, after laying out rounding the Home Turn, then shifted in marginally.
In the early part of the Straight, INTREPID WINNER lay in and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of runners to obtain clear running.
Also in the early part of the Straight, PERFECT TO GREAT lay in under pressure.
In the early part of the Straight, WINNING DRAGON was shifted out a number of horses to obtain clear running.
WINNING DRAGON then got its head on the side and shifted out near the 100 Metres, resulting in HIT THE SHOT being inconvenienced.
A veterinary inspection of HIT THE SHOT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
XIANG YIN, SOULMATE and SUPER TEN were sent for sampling.

Early favourite Soulmate drew clear after hitting the front 300m out rolling forward three deep to track the leader Super Ten from a middle draw. He was knocking on the door in two of three other starts this term and struck a lackluster Class Three. Super Ten made his own luck in front as expected but found one too smart while just holding onto second. It was another honest effort. Xiang Yin ran on steadily travelling one off better than midfield. He produced another genuine effort carrying more weight following backto- back wins. Plunged late Champion Dragon ran on reasonably well to fill the frame after making his run three deep with cover behind midfield. Perfect Maryknoll made some ground without threatening after saving ground in midfield. He's shown progress in his two runs this term but is still acclimatising. Function Patch made some ground after making his run four back and one off the fence with cover. It was a slightly-improved effort third up tackling an extra 200m. Hit The Shot didn't really get into the act travelling deep towards the rear. He's an import with big expectations after placing second in the Victoria Derby but will need more time to settle in and clearly a longer trip.
