Recap by phillip woo
Raging favourite Golden Sixty showed a good turn of foot on the back of the slow tempo to come from last near the 300m to win going away approaching the 100m. He's won 15 straight and will be hard to beat in the HK Mile. Waikuku kept on gamely for second after assuming the lead from Southern Legend upon straightening following a pace-stalking run. He's a genuine top-notch miler. Sky Darci had his chance after hitting the front near the 200m following a one-out, one-back run but found a couple too smart in the end. It was a genuine effort but he'll need to raise his game. More Than This came on well from the rear of the field to fill the frame. It was a solid run first up following a lengthy break. Punted late Southern Legend was given an easy time in front through very slow sections but couldn't match up when the race got serious. Old age appears to be getting the better of him this season. Champion's Way was given every opportunity in the box seat but just wasn't good enough at set weights. Preciousship never got involved from towards the rear. He wasn't up to the challenge after a career-best second off a light weight last start in Group Two.
