Recap by phillip woo
Early favourite Master Eight was up chasing the leader and post-time favourite Nervous Witness from a low draw, hit the front near the 300m and drew clear for another convincing win despite a step back in distance. He's unbeaten in four starts and destined for better things. Nervous Witness was no match for the winner after leading from the 800m. He was beaten fair and square getting five pounds from the winner but he was still clearly second best stepping into a higher class off a light weight. Hong Kong Win ran on steadily to fill a placing following a prominent run from an inside draw. It was another honest effort carrying top weight. Gold Chest ran on steadily from midfield to just fill a quartet spot. It was a better run but still well below par on a win last season off a higher mark. Loving A Boom made a decent bid from last near the 400m. It was a better run on his past few but requires a longer trip and a downgrade. Valiant Dream made some ground without menacing from towards the rear. He requires handicap relief. Ping Hai Bravo never landed a blow travelling one from the rear. He's struggling after winning four times last season.
