Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Fa Fa was too good after hitting the front 100m out following a ground-saving run in midfield for a second win from his past three starts. He's got the tools to hold his own up in grade off a light weight. The well-backed Ernest Feeling rattled home to snatch second on the wire after a patient ride second last from a wide gate in blinkers. He's shown talent to place in four of six starts and can break through at any moment. Zhan Jiang Rocks ended up third best after sustaining a long run from towards the rear to lead 220m out. He doesn't win often but is always a chance over this trip. Owners' Star got going late through the middle to just fill a quartet spot after biding his time third last from a wide draw. He continues to rack up prize money without winning this season. Red Impact should have finished closer if not held up for a run until the 150m travelling four back along the fence. He has appeared to be getting the hang of things in his past two outings. Fast Pace produced only a grinding effort after a one-off run better than midfield. He's had a very busy, though productive, campaign and does appear from his past two runs with a return to Class Four to be in need of a break.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six: (773) - ROBINSON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

FAST PACE and MOONLUCK bumped at the start.

MOONLUCK then lost its right front plate shortly after the start.

From a wide barrier, ERNEST FEELING was shifted across behind runners.

From a wide barrier, OWNERS' STAR was also shifted across behind runners shortly after the start to obtain cover.

After travelling a short distance, RED IMPACT raced in restricted room between THE MINT and GALACTIC which shifted out.

Near the 1250 Metres, GALACTIC got its head up, shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MOONLUCK.

After being crossed by MOONLUCK, GALACTIC travelled keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse for a short distance.

Then passing the 1000 Metres, GALACTIC again got its head up when awkwardly placed behind MOONLUCK.

FAST PACE, which was following GALACTIC, was steadied away from the heels of that horse in consequence.

Near the 550 Metres, OWNERS' STAR raced close to the heels of GALACTIC when held up for clear running behind that horse.

Passing the 500 Metres, ZHAN JIANG ROCKS was taken wider by FAST PACE which shifted out away from the heels of GALACTIC as that horse also shifted out from behind MOONLUCK.

RED IMPACT was badly held up for clear running from after the 300 Metres until passing the 200 Metres.

Passing the 200 Metres, WON BALL and MOONLUCK bumped.

After the race, M Chadwick stated that MANNA FROM HEAVEN was not able to obtain a forward position when runners to its outside showed more pace than his mount.

He said when the pace was strong in the early stages, MANNA FROM HEAVEN did not travel as strongly as it did at its last start when ridden by him.

He said although MANNA FROM HEAVEN was able to obtain a good run in the middle stages behind WON BALL, the horse came under heavy pressure at the entrance to the Straight after obtaining clear running behind WON BALL and then after being placed under pressure in the Straight was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to finish off the race as strongly as anticipated.

A veterinary inspection of MANNA FROM HEAVEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned, K C Leung stated that he had not received any specific instructions on how to ride MAXIMIZE HEART given that the horse was drawn in the outside barrier.

He said it was left to him to decide how MAXIMIZE HEART should be ridden which he felt would be dependent on the manner in which the horse began.

He said when preparing the form for this evening's race, he felt that there were a number of runners which would be ridden to obtain a forward position and he anticipated that the race would be run at a good tempo in the early stages and therefore he had hoped that MAXIMIZE HEART may be able to obtain a trailing position in about midfield or just in front of midfield.

He said however on jumping ERNEST FEELING shifted out and bumped MAXIMIZE HEART which resulted in his mount becoming unbalanced.

He said when this occurred he felt that he would have had to make too much use of MAXIMIZE HEART to then be ridden forward to clear ERNEST FEELING and therefore he elected to steady his mount and obtain a position with cover at the rear of the field.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that OWNERS' STAR had sustained a minor laceration to the left front pastern.

A veterinary inspection of GALACTIC immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of MOONLUCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FA FA and ERNEST FEELING were sent for sampling.
