Specked at odds, Wine And Wine was perfectly rated in front for a comfortable win leading from gate four. It was clearly his best run to date from four starts but he did draw a better gate with a return to the Valley. Punted late, California Concord stayed on well for second after enjoying all favours in the box seat. He had gone all right in two of three prior starts over this Valley trip and had a good draw. Amazing News quickened well to just edge Fighting Star for third after a patient ride towards from the rear. It was a good effort on the back of a slow pace at just his fourth local start. Fighting Star kept on reasonably well for fourth following a pace-stalking run. It was a better performance at his third start following a switch to the Valley here. Nordic Warrior came from last to pick up a minor cheque. He's a Class Four horse. Aurora Pegasus just failed to fill the frame following a prominent run. He'll likely come on for this run following a lameness problem last month. Favourite Kinda Cool came up one-paced in the run to the wire after getting pushed three deep without cover from the 900m following a handy run.
