Recap by phillip woo

Gift Of Lifeline ran down Smiling City 60m out for the win after being perfectly positioned one off in fourth from an inside draw. He was naturally coming to form in five prior starts this term. Favourite Smiling City found one just too good after hitting the front 150m out following a box-seat run. It was a better effort as expected after drawing a proper gate for a change. Punted late, Helene Wisdom Star ran on well from midfield to finish a non-threatening third. He didn't disgrace in two other starts and will appreciate a longer trip. Savaquin closed well down the outside to fill the frame in fourth after a patient ride third from the rear. He relished a step up in distance at his third start but is heading in the right direction. Surrealism ran on without menacing from behind midfield. It was a typical run. Reel Bizzy came up one-paced sticking to the inside following a handy run on the fence. It was a below par effort after placing in four other starts this term. Jolly Honour had no chance after getting caught three deep without cover in midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven: (255) - LONGINES INTERNATIONAL JOCKEYS' CHAMPIONSHIP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1650Meters

FLASH FAMOUS was withdrawn on 7.12.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (bled from right nostril after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HELENE WISDOM STAR.

As the start was effected, HANG'S DECISION became fractious and then reared abruptly, resulting in the horse losing a considerable amount of ground.

Before being allowed to race again, HANG'S DECISION will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.

REEL BIZZY shifted out at the start and hampered GIFT OF LIFELINE.

From wide barriers, HALL OF CHAMP, SAVAQUIN and SURREALISM were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 1600 Metres, NOBLE STEED raced tight between GIFT OF LIFELINE and JOLLY HONOUR which lay in.

Then approaching the winning post on the first occasion, NOBLE STEED was steadied when crowded for room between GIFT OF LIFELINE and JOLLY HONOUR (R Moore) which shifted in.

R Moore was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances.

After the 1300 Metres, JOLLY HONOUR was left racing wide and without cover.

Near the 250 Metres, JOLLY HONOUR and SAVAQUIN bumped.

Passing the 100 Metres, HALL OF CHAMP was shifted out away from the heels of REEL BIZZY to obtain clear running.

A veterinary inspection of JOLLY HONOUR immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY HONOUR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING STEED, HANG'S DECISION and SUNNY LAD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GIFT OF LIFELINE and SMILING CITY were sent for sampling.
