Recap by phillip woo

Odds-on favourite Beluga got up near the 200m for the win after settling fourth last following a sluggish start. He's now won two of four starts and there's plenty more improvement up his sleeves. Sam's Love finished nicely to grab second after fanning widest upon straightening following a patient ride at the rear of the field. He can bob up now and then. Fortune Hero stayed on for a placing at massive odds after getting his own way in front. It was a vastly-improved effort first-up following a stable change. Punted late Speed Fay Fay came from towards the rear to just miss a placing. He's shown ability at times and will likely come on for this run. Shanghai Grace made some ground late to finish just out of the placings travelling third from the rear. Stunning Impact ran on without menacing following a midfield run. He appeared to need the run. Solar Power wasn't too far away in the end following a one-out, one-back run. He's an improved runner.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two: (94) - SO UK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

GOLDIE FLANKER was withdrawn on 9.10.20 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever).

Before being allowed to race again, GOLDIE FLANKER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

FORTUNE HERO shifted out at the start and hampered SAM'S LOVE.

SHANGHAI GRACE was crowded for room on jumping between SPEED FAY FAY and EURO LAGO which shifted out.

After this, SHANGHAI GRACE was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, SPEED FAY FAY failed to muster speed.

Passing the 1200 Metres, SHANGHAI GRACE was crowded for room between SPEED FAY FAY and BELUGA which shifted out.

Passing the 1000 Metres, SPEED FAY FAY shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of STUNNING IMPACT.

Passing the 500 Metres, STUNNING IMPACT was bumped and taken wider by SPEED FAY FAY which shifted out to obtain clear running.

At the entrance to the Straight, SHANGHAI GRACE was shifted in away from the heels of EURO LAGO.

Over the concluding stages, SOLAR POWER raced tight outside SHANGHAI GRACE which in turn raced tight outside FORTUNE HERO (Apprentice C Wong) which shifted out under pressure.

Apprentice Wong was advised that he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

Consequently SOLAR POWER was not able to be properly ridden out over the final 50 Metres.

When questioned, K C Leung (SOLAR POWER) stated that in the early stages he was able to obtain a forward position with FORTUNE HERO and EURO LAGO leading.

He said as did not believe that either of these horses would be able to take him into the race, he elected to remain racing one horse off the rail to allow him the opportunity to shift directly to the outside of EURO LAGO at the appropriate stage of the race.

He said as SOLAR POWER, in his opinion, will be better suited over longer distances than the 1400 Metres of today's race, he therefore wanted to ensure that SOLAR POWER was not held up for clear running at any stage.

BELUGA and SAM'S LOVE were sent for sampling.
