Racing Incident Report
Race Nine: (101) - NAM SHAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
SIMPLE ELEGANT and VICTORY POWER bumped at the start.
KA YING EXCELLENT shifted out at the start and bumped CHANCHENG PRINCE which in turn shifted out and made contact with BRIGHT KID.
BRIGHT KID consequently shifted out, causing ORIENTAL AMIGO to be checked when badly crowded for room between BRIGHT KID which shifted out further after being bumped on the hindquarters by ORIENTAL AMIGO and TEMPEST EXPRESS which shifted in.
WIN WIN began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start, CRAIG'S STAR shifted out and bumped E STAR which in turn bumped STAR OF YUEN LONG.
From the outside barrier, LEGION OF MERIT was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early stages, VICTORY POWER travelled keenly and then near the 1350 Metres was hampered by SIMPLE ELEGANT which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, KA YING EXCELLENT was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of SIMPLE ELEGANT after being directed in by STAR OF YUEN LONG (Z Purton) which was then shifted out to relieve the tightening to KA YING EXCELLENT.
Z Purton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Near the 1000 Metres, WIN WIN was left racing wide and without cover.
LEGION OF MERIT lost its right front plate approaching the 900 Metres.
Approaching the 350 Metres, WIN WIN got its head on the side and was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of CHANCHENG PRINCE.
E STAR had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300 Metres.
After the 50 Metres, BRIGHT KID was shifted to the outside of KA YING EXCELLENT when disappointed for running between that horse and STAR OF YUEN LONG.
A veterinary inspection of SIMPLE ELEGANT and VICTORY POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
STAR OF YUEN LONG, CRAIG'S STAR and CHANCHENG PRINCE were sent for sampling.

Plunged late Craig's Star shot clear 150m out after getting a lovely run one off in fourth from a tricky gate for a third career win from 20 starts. He always a chance over this trip and was able to build on a positive run last month. Chancheng Prince finished nicely after settling one off in midfield to grab second 50m out. E Star ran on well to place after making his run five back and one off the fence. He's effective at 1,200m but this was his best effort to date over this trip. Tempest Express ran on well from behind midfield to fill the frame. He's going the right way after making a good impression in both starts and likely wants an even further trip. Ka Ying Excellent came up one-paced over the final 100m after a box-seat run. He needed the outing. Favourite Star Of Yuen Long was stopping 100m out after briefly finding the front passing the 200m following a pace-stalking run from a wide gate. He's not reliable and had the big weight and wide gate.
