Racing Incident Report
Race Four: (752) - GARNET HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
WAR LORD began awkwardly, got its head up and shifted in, resulting in TIGER GLARE being bumped and taken in onto NOBLE CONSORT.
Shortly after the start, HAPPY VICTORY and SPEEDY DRAGON bumped.
From the outside barrier, SHIMMER AND SHINE was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages.
Passing the 1050 Metres, MAGIC SUPREME was very awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMILING SUCCESS.
Then approaching the 1000 Metres, MAGIC SUPREME shifted out and hampered GOLDEN LINK when it remained awkwardly placed behind SMILING SUCCESS.
Rounding the Home Turn, HAPPY VICTORY lay out and made contact with the hindquarters of HARD PROMISE, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
After the 300 Metres, GOLDEN LINK shifted in under pressure.
Passing the 150 Metres, SHIMMER AND SHINE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of TIGER GLARE which shifted out before being straightened.
TIGER GLARE was then shifted out away from the heels of HARD PROMISE near the 100 Metres, resulting in SHIMMER AND SHINE being checked away from the heels of TIGER GLARE and stumbling.
Throughout the race, HARD PROMISE travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, Apprentice K H Chan (MAGIC SUPREME) stated that, in his opinion, the horse was suited last start by the yielding track.
He said today on the firmer surface MAGIC SUPREME did not travel as comfortably as it did last start and then failed to finish off the race in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of MAGIC SUPREME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

FIRST RESPONDER and GOLDEN LINK were sent for sampling.

Plunged late, First Responder handed up the lead to Smiling Success 800m out after jumping best from gate 11, reclaimed the front 300m out and kept on gamely for a first win at his 19th start. The combination of a stable change, 10-pound claimer and blinkers worked the oracle. Favourite Golden Link stayed on a clear-cut second after a one-off run ahead of midfield. He still showed inexperience but has placed second in his past two of three runs and will be winning shortly. Big Luck Champ ran on well from behind midfield to add value to the tierce. It was a solid debut effort. Happy Victory had his chance following a box-seat run but came up one-paced when asked for more. He has improved since a stable change. Noble Consort ran on steadily to just finish out of the placings.
