Racing Incident Report
Race One: (749) - TOURMALINE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Meters
WHISTLE UP was slow to begin.
ISLAND WINNER stumbled at the start.
AURORA STEED began awkwardly.
MONEYMORE began only fairly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of SPICY REALLY.
JIMSON THE DRAGON lay out under pressure during the race and near the 200 Metres shifted out and inconvenienced FLYING MONKEY.
UNITED WE STAND lay in over about the final 200 Metres.
MONEYMORE was held up for clear running from approaching the 200 Metres until after the 100 Metres.
Near the 150 Metres, BANDY shifted in and made contact with OVERSUBSCRIBED.
Approaching and passing the 100 Metres, AURORA STEED raced tight outside LA BOMBA.
After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of OVERSUBSCRIBED other than to note that when the horse raced over the course and distance earlier in its career, it had not finished off those races strongly.
A veterinary inspection of OVERSUBSCRIBED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on UNITED WE STAND at the request of Trainer C S Shum.
The Veterinary Surgeon reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, UNITED WE STAND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of WHISTLE UP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
UNITED WE STAND and JIMSON THE DRAGON were sent for sampling.

Well-backed late United We Stand drew clear to win with plenty in hand in a class record time after leading soon following the start from gate 14. He was too smart following a downgrade with the claim well utilised. Jimson The Dragon kept plugging away for second after vying for the early lead carrying a light weight. It was another solid effort after a trip third two back. Plunged late La Bomba kept plugging away to finish a non-threatening third after a prominent run. It was a return to form following a stable change and switch to the straight 1,000m. Bandy came from midfield to fill the frame. It was his best run to date following a stable change carrying a feather weight. Flying Monkey came up one-paced over the last 150m after settling near the speed. Moneymore was unhappy not to have finished closer after being held up for a run until passing the 100m following a patient ride. Early favourite Whistle Up was a non-factor after missing the start.
