Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (524)-THE LUSITANO CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1600Metres
WINNER??S WAY began awkwardly, got its head up on a number of occasions and consequently lost ground.DEE DEE D??OR was slow to begin.
SANTA FE SUN shifted out at the start and bumped GONNA RUN.
HAPPY PLACE was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 800 Metres, WINNER??S WAY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ROCKETEER.
Passing the 300 Metres, SOLAR HEI HEI shifted out and bumped MIGHTY MAVERICK.
Passing the 100 Metres, BABA MAMA got its head on the side and lay in away from WINNER??S WAY.
BABA MAMA was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNER??S WAY near the 50 Metres.
Approaching the 50 Metres and again close to the finishing line, CALIFORNIA DISEGNO was awkwardly placed outside WHAT ELSE BUT YOU which shifted out under pressure.
For the majority of the race, BABA MAMA travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, N Rawiller was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of LUCKY GIRL.
He said the horse travelled well throughout the early and middle stages, however, did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure and gave ground in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY GIRL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BABA MAMA, WHAT ELSE BUT YOU and WINNER??S WAY were sent for sampling.

Well-punted late What Else But You kicked to the front 250m out after stalking the speed one off in second and kept up a strong gallop to remain unbeaten over this trip in three straight runs despite a rise in class. He can head higher. Winner's Way closed off well carrying top weight to make it close on the wire and snatch second from stablemate California Disegno following a patient ride fourth from the rear after an awkward break. He's got more points in hand. California Disegno was just collared late for second following a handy run. It was another honest performance over this trip. Solar Hei Hei couldn't turn it up another gear following a box-seat run. He requires a stronger rider. Plunged late Mighty Maverick improved coming to the final bend following a midfield run but came up flat over the last 150m with every chance. He's better over the 1,400m. Favourite Baba Mama didn't fire after a deep run without cover in midfield from a wide gate. He's had a lot of hard racing and may be due for a nice break. Dee Dee D'Or didn't really let down from behind midfield despite bags of money for him late. He requires more time to acclimatise and a further trip.
