Racing Incident Report
Race Seven: (523)-DUDDELL HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Metres
When being mounted, GENERAL IRON, which was fractious in the Parade Ring, took charge of its attendants which resulted in its rider, Apprentice M F Poon, being dragged by GENERAL IRON for a short distance.GENERAL IRON then proceeded onto the track riderless and galloped for a considerable distance.
Acting on veterinary advice that GENERAL IRON was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL IRON will be required to undergo a satisfactory parade test prior to its next race start and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As a result of this incident, Apprentice Poon was transported to hospital.
TURF SPRINT shifted out at the start and bumped BLOCKER DEE which became unbalanced.
A short distance after this, TURF SPRINT was steadied when crowded for room between BLOCKER DEE and ARCHIPPUS which shifted out.
From the outside barriers, HIGH FIVE and LINE SEEKER were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Making the first turn after the 900 Metres, HOUSE OF FUN, which was inclined to lay out, got its head up after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAGIC LEGEND which shifted in marginally.
D Whyte (MAGIC LEGEND) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of HOUSE OF FUN, resulting in that horse having to be checked.
In the circumstances, D Whyte was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 20 April 2017 and to expire on Monday, 24 April 2017 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Whyte??s good race riding record.
After the 800 Metres, TURF SPRINT was taken into a position three wide and without cover by KEY WITNESS which shifted out.
Approaching the 200 Metres, COUNTRY MUSIC was shifted out away from the heels of BLOCKER DEE.
Passing the 200 Metres, KEY WITNESS shifted out and brushed TURF SPRINT.
A veterinary inspection of BLOCKER DEE and HOUSE OF FUN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
HOUSE OF FUN, MAGIC LEGEND and HIGH FIVE were sent for sampling.

Magic Legend showed good gate speed to lead from gate eight and kept up a strong gallop to hold off the late move of High Five to remain unbeaten in three outings despite a rise in class and distance. He's open to further improvement and will be breaking a century mark soon. High Five sprouted wings to come from last to make it close. He has been able to follow up a last-start win and should remain competitive near the bottom of the weights in this class. Line Seeker got going late travelling second from the rear to knock favourite House Of Fun out of the placings. He rarely runs a bad race over this trip but the big weights are anchoring him on a win line. Firming favourite House Of Fun was a bit keen when steadying 700m out but had every chance in the straight dash following a box-seat run. He's risen sharply for four wins this term and might need to catch his breath. Archippus ran his usual honest race to finish just out of the placings with a late move. He might be near his mark. Apprentice Matthew Poon went from a high of winning to a low when hitting the turf with General Iron who was withdrawn.
