Ace King sat second and shot clear 300m out. He lived up to two sound efforts last season over this trip and should remain competitive off a light weight in the next level. Perfect Smart stayed on well for second after showing natural pace from a low gate to sit prominent in the run. He'll have to be kept safe when returning to his preferred Valley track. Showing Character kept on a non-threatening third after switching off heels 400m out following a handy run. Lean Journey got going late after showing no early speed. He'll come on for the run. Noble Buddies made only a mild bid travelling worse than midfield. He's nothing special. Ricco Ricco came up flat after travelling a bit keenly in midfield. He prefers a longer trip. Sea Warrior had his chance following a midfield run on the outer.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (019)-CHAOZHOU HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1000Metres

On arrival at the Start, STORM KID, which was keen during the preliminary and took charge of its rider for a short distance, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed fit to start.

SHOWING CHARACTER was crowded for room on jumping between PERFECT SMART and ALL TOGETHER, both of which shifted ground.

LEAN JOURNEY began awkwardly and was then shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the outside rail in the early stages.

Passing the 900 Metres, ALL TOGETHER got its head on the side, shifted out and bumped MIGHTY GAINS.

ALL TOGETHER then became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in SHOWING CHARACTER being hampered.

Also passing the 900 Metres, RICCO RICCO was steadied away from the heels of KING'S STEED.

For some distance after the 700 Metres, RICCO RICCO was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING'S STEED and passing the 500 Metres was directed in away from the heels of MIGHTY GAINS.

Passing the 400 Metres, KING'S STEED was steadied away from the heels of SHOWING CHARACTER which, when attempting to improve to the outside of ALL TOGETHER, was taken out by that horse.

LEAN JOURNEY was held up for clear running passing the 350 Metres and then had difficulty obtaining clear running after the 200 Metres.

After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that RICCO RICCO had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of FAST ROCKET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

LEAN JOURNEY, ACE KING and PERFECT SMART were sent for sampling.
