Karis Teetan hopes to finish his season with a flourish and heads to Sha Tin on Saturday with a book of rides that stands him in good stead of tasting that winning feeling once again.
A clear second in the championship on 77 victories after 80 meetings, Teetan is on track for his best campaign since the 2019-20 season and takes a full book of 11 rides to this weekend’s programme.
After collecting Group Three honours aboard Ka Ying Rising in the Sha Tin Vase (1,200m) earlier this month – his first Group level win since Romantic Warrior’s Group One QE II Cup (2,000m) victory in 2022 – Teetan is full of confidence entering the final eight meetings of the season.
“I’m really happy with how the season has gone,” Teetan said. “I’ve had great support from the owners and trainers and it was also nice to have the Group Three winner two weeks ago.
“It’s been very good and hopefully it can carry on until the end of the season.”
How good is he!? How good could he be!? 🌟

Teetan will aim to get his afternoon up and running in the opening Yan Chau Tong Plate (1,000m) for Griffins, with Santorini bidding to go one better than his latest effort over 1,200m.
“He’s still an immature horse and he’s still learning as a Griffin, but I thought he tried his best last time and the horse that won the race [Thunder Blink] looks like a really nice horse,” Teetan said.
“I was really happy with his run and I think he can only improve from that. Of course he goes back to 1,000m, but I think he’s gaining nice experience each run.”
Teetan has filled the runner-up spot 91 times this season – only one less than six-time champion jockey Zac Purton – and he will hope to add to his winning tally on the dirt with last-start winners Daily Trophy and Self Improvement.

Manfred Man Ka-leung’s Self Improvement brushed aside his rivals to win by three and a half lengths last time out under Purton and jumps into deeper waters in the Class Three Grass Island Handicap (1,200m).
Teetan, who has been on fire on the all-weather with 12 wins this term, believes his mount can return to the winner’s enclosure.
“Self Improvement won pretty easily last start and it looks like he really enjoys the dirt,” Teetan said.
“He goes into a race where it looks like he’s capable of winning again. There’s a lot of speed in the race and that will suit him. Manfred has got him going pretty well and he’s holding his condition really well.”

Teetan continues his union with Prestige Always, who finished a respectable fifth behind the reopposing Call Me Glorious on his local debut in Class Three company last month.
A placegetter at Group Three level for trainer Joseph O’Brien in his pre-import career, Prestige Always jumps from barrier four in the Class Three Clear Water Bay Handicap (1,200m).
“He’s a promising little horse,” Teetan said. “I was happy with how he hit the line last time out. He got a bit tired towards the end, but that’s understandable as it was his first run.
“He’s definitely improved from that. He’s trialled nicely and he’s going to get a good run again from his draw.
“I know it’s a tough little field – Call Me Glorious looks like he could be special – but if my horse can improve a little bit he can be more competitive.”
