Premiership leading jockey Joao Moreira has been forced to forfeit nine rides at Sunday’s Sha Tin meeting after being stood down with the flu late on Saturday.
The Magic Man has 51 winners for the season and was set to partner a host of winning chances on Sunday, including Big Party in the Group Three Bauhinia Sprint Trophy (1,000m), This One’s For You and Holy Heart.
His rides have been allocated to Silvestre de Sousa (Master Bernini and Bright Kid), Alexis Badel (Destine Jewellery), Keith Yeung Ming-lun (This One’s For You and Holy Heart), Chad Schofield (Be Ready and Everyone’s Joy), Grant van Niekerk (Big Party) and Blake Shinn (Gunnison).
