Glorious Forever showed his enormous potential when he cruised away for a four-length victory last start and gets a chance to string together back-to-back wins in the Class Two Hoi Ha Handicap (2,000m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.

While the margin was convincing enough, it could have been even greater as Zac Purton never pulled the whip and was very soft on him in the final 100m.

The front-running win sparked comparisons to his full-brother Time Warp, who was a dual Group One winner over 2,000m this season.

The handicapper hasn’t missed Frankie Lor Fu-chuen’s four-year-old though, putting him up 13 points in the ratings and now he tackles Class Two for the first time.

While Glorious Forever has taken up the running in his past two starts, and Purton would probably prefer to do that again, it might not be that easy with noted front-runner Jolly Gene also in the race.

So even if apprentice Matthew Poon Ming-fai is determined to lead, Purton will be able to adjust as the contest unfolds.

As long as Glorious Forever can handle the step up in grade, he should prove very hard to run down.

His biggest danger looks to be the Tony Cruz-trained Stimulation (Tommy Berry), who impressed when second in his Hong Kong debut.

The son of Deep Impact won three races in France (including events at Group Three and Listed level) before making the move to Sha Tin and it doesn’t look like it has taken him long to settle in.

He hit the line strongly when finishing runner-up to Pikachu and he should take plenty of benefit from the run while the step up to 2,000m suits perfectly.

John Size’s Insayshable (Joao Moreira) is the other runner to create interest after placings in his first two starts.

He won two of his four starts in Ireland and looks to be building towards a victory.

The step up in trip seems ideal and the Magic Man should have him in a lovely spot just behind the speed.

It would be a shock if the winner came from outside these three promising types, who all look to have upside.
