Breeders' Cup day at Santa Anita didn't go well for Hong Kong on the surface of it when Rich Tapestry failed, but there may have been some good news to come out of the meeting with plans for Breeders' Cup Turf winner, Main Sequence.

The Graham Motion-trained five-year-old charged home for his fourth successive Group One win in the 2,400m turf event and Main Sequence might now be turned towards Sha Tin in December.

"We've been invited to Hong Kong, we've been invited to the Japan Cup and then there are nice races in Dubai in March, so there are lots of options," said Motion. "Japan comes a bit quick, so that's a worry. Hong Kong is an option - my only apprehension is that this horse got quite sick when he came to me last winter and I'm just worried about shipping him a long way, but I'd say we'll definitely consider it."

Jonathan Pease-trained three-year-old, Karakontie, the Breeders' Cup Mile winner also has a nomination for December at Sha Tin, but his handler said that might be the end of his campaign: "I don't know about the Hong Kong Mile. He's had a long year and he may have done enough. We'll see."

Meanwhile, in Japan, the Tenno Sho (Autumn) fell to rising star Spielberg, who finished so fast at the end of the 2,000m that he won by three-quarters of a length over star mare Gentildonna, after looking only a rough chance of winning at all with 100m to travel.

The same race that launched Just A Way onto the world stage in 2013 looks to have been the springboard for a new Japanese star and he is expected to go to the Japan Cup for his next start.

Spielberg is not entered for any event at the Longines Hong Kong International Races, however, third-placed Isla Bonita, the beaten favourite yesterday, has an entry in the Hong Kong Cup and fourth home, Love Is Boo Shet, holds entries in both the Cup and the Vase.
