HBO, or Home Box Office, is a US paid television network that launched in 1972 and went on to become the home of groundbreaking and celebrated shows including The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Sex and the City, Succession, Veep and Curb Your Enthusiasm. It subsequently offered two digital versions: HBO Go and HBO Now. In May 2020, the firm's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, launched HBO Max, a streaming service featuring original HBO shows plus films and series from across the company's channels and studios, in the US and later abroad. In 2023, the service had Discovery shows added to its roster and was rebranded Max.
