Firming favourite Chill Chibi made his run from behind midfield on the fence and showed a sterling turn of foot to get up in the concluding stages to ring up a fifth career win. The riding change to Zac Purton worked the oracle. Flamingo Trillion stayed on well to take second after tracking the leader Telecom Fighters one off the fence from gate six. He is an honest horse over this course. Telecom Fighters wouldn't go down without a fight after turning the final bend two lengths on top in his usual lead role from gate three. He rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,650m. Red Hare King made good ground late near the inside for fourth after settling three from the rear on the fence from gate 12. He is as honest as the day is long over this course and distance. Mr Ascendency was given every chance after a handy run with cover but could only manage fifth carrying top weight. Keefy kept on all right after a rails run from midfield. Capital Delight didn't find much after a prominent run along the inside. He's a dirt horse. Woodfire Bro never landed a blow from behind midfield. It was an out-of-character effort after back-to-back wins.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (165) - HIGH ISLAND HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1650Meters

Horse No 3 WOODFIRE BRO (G115) M L Yeung Near the 1400 Metres was steadied away from MR ASCENDENCY when positioned close to that runner.

Approaching the 300 Metres raced in restricted room for a short distance between TURIN MASCOT and CHILL CHIBI which shifted out to improve.

After the event, M L Yeung reported that his mount came under pressure at the 600 Metres and failed to respond to his riding thereafter.

He added that WOODFIRE BRO made a respiratory noise after the winning post.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of WOODFIRE BRO, a last start winner, was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, WOODFIRE BRO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 8 KEEFY (G306) M F Poon Shortly after the start raced tight between MR ASCENDENCY and TELECOM FIGHTERS which shifted out slightly.

Horse No 10 TURIN MASCOT (H165) A Badel Bumped shortly after the start.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 STAR CONTACT (E472) K Teetan Bumped shortly after the start.

At the 300 Metres K Teetan dropped his whip.

When questioned, K Teetan stated that from a wide barrier he was requested to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as the horse had raced disappointingly at its last start when ridden in a forward position.

Trainer D A Hayes confirmed the instructions and the reason as to why he issued those instructions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
