Recap by phillip woo

Veteran Right Honourable dashed well near the inside to take control 100m out after straightening for home one from the rear for an eighth win and seventh over this course and distance from 83 career outings. The writing had been on the wall with thirds in two of three prior runs this term. Sensationally backed, Red Maverick made good late ground near the outside for second after settling three from the rear. He was able to build on a fourth last start over 1,600m. Winning Seven ran on nicely for third after a rail run in better than midfield. It was clearly his best run from 10 starts. Post-time favourite Medic Elite knocked up late after rushing to the lead 200m out. He is as honest as the day is long. Merchant Prince whacked on one-paced after a box-seat run. He might not be too far off a rating bottom. Early favourite Kasa Papa made only a mild bid after a rail run from behind midfield. He has been more disappointing than not in four starts this term. Super Wise Dragon appeared to be in contention but threw in the towel after moving to the lead 350m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (140) - CHEONG WAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 KASA PAPA (G312) H Bowman Shortly after the start was crowded between SUPER WISE DRAGON and YEABOI which shifted in slightly.

After the event, H Bowman stated that after attempting a tight run to the inside of MERCHANT PRINCE on the Home Turn, his mount was checked when unable to obtain clear running which resulted in KASA PAPA losing momentum at that stage of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 SUPER WISE DRAGON (G475) Z Purton After arriving on course was found to have superficial graze above left eye, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Bumped shortly after the start.

After the event, Z Purton stated that the intention was to endeavour to find cover if possible.

He said in the early stages SUPER WISE DRAGON raced keenly and as the horse is a "roarer" he was reluctant to excessively restrain his mount to obtain a position with cover.

He said as a result SUPER WISE DRAGON, which continued to race keenly, raced outside the lead before giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

The performance of SUPER WISE DRAGON was considered disappointing as compared to its last race start.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER WISE DRAGON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 5 RUNNING AHEAD (G313) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Leaving the 700 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from CHARMANDER.

Horse No 6 MANYTHANKS FOREVER (J065) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 8 WINNING SEVEN (J005) H Bentley In the early part of the Home Straight lay in and was awkwardly positioned behind SUPER WISE DRAGON.

Horse No 9 MEDIC ELITE (G129) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 RIGHT HONOURABLE (A164) M Chadwick From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Steadied near the 700 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 YEABOI (G372) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla reported that after being obliged to race wide and without cover in the early stages his mount became under pressure in the middle stages and weakened in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of YEABOI, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, YEABOI will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 RED MAVERICK (J067) Y L Chung From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

On the Home Turn was held up for clear running.

After the event, Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to endeavour to hold a more forward position, however, RED MAVERICK did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.

Sent for sampling post-race.
