Race Six : (527) - SKY DARCI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 LOYAL BO BO (J011) H Bowman Found to be mildly distressed after the race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 ARIEL (G223) E C W Wong Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 HOLY POWER (H039) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 5 I CAN (H381) A Badel In the early stages raced keenly and got its head up when being crossed by CIRCUIT MIGHTY.
Horse No 6 CIRCUIT MIGHTY (G078) Z Purton Approaching the 1300 Metres was steadied when crowded by DOUBLE WIN which shifted out abruptly.
B Shinn (SKY TRUST) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of CIRCUITY MIGHTY, resulting in CIRCUIT MIGHTY having to be checked.
B Shinn was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 27 March 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade
2.
Horse No 7 LINK (J177) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
When questioned, B Avdulla stated that his mount hung out from the 500 Metres and over the concluding stages he was unable to ride LINK out as he was concerned it would shift out away from the winning post.
Horse No 9 DOUBLE WIN (H382) C L Chau Crowded shortly after the start.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, when positioned close to the heels of CIRCUIT MIGHTY, blundered, shifted out and became unbalanced.
Near the 300 Metres, when giving ground, was inconvenienced by PODIUM which shifted out.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 SKY TRUST (J161) B Shinn Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
B Shinn pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see CIRCUIT MIGHTY).
Horse No 11 SMILING COLLECTOR (G128) K Teetan Shortly after the start was badly crowded for room between DOUBLE WIN which was taken out by CIRCUIT MIGHTY and ARIEL which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Horse No 12 SPICY GOLD (H440) L Ferraris When questioned, L Ferraris stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages to ensure that it obtained cover.
He stated that in the early stages when caught wide to the outside of DOUBLE WIN, he elected to come back to follow that runner to avoid covering additional ground which resulted in SPICY GOLD settling slightly further back than what he had intended.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 JOYFUL FRIENDSHIP (H295) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 14 PODIUM (H173) K De Melo Near the 200 Metres, when giving ground, was steadied when crowded between SMILING COLLECTOR and SPICY GOLD (L Ferraris) which shifted in before being corrected.
L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Favourite Loyal Bo Bo kept on gamely after reclaiming the lead 350m out after prompting the pace without cover from gate nine for back-to-back wins. He has the tools to hold his own up in grade off a light weight. Ariel stuck on well for second after dictating most the pace along the inside with the claim well utilised. He's honest as the day is long but has trouble winning. Golden Darci just failed to get up for second after switching out for a clear run near the 200m following a rail run from midfield. Sky Trust kept on one paced after a prominent run on the fence. He seems to go better ridden quieter in the run. Smiling Collector made headway late for fifth after a patient ride third last from a tricky gate. He's shown a bit more spark in his past three starts. Link ran on without threatening after making his run one from the rear. It was a better performance. I Can just held his ground after a handy run. He's mixing his form. Spicy Gold stayed on next best after a wide trip with cover from behind midfield.
