Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (272) - HIBISCUS HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters
Horse No 2 SUPER CONTENTED (H251) K De Melo Jumped only fairly, was then bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced.
Approaching the 400 Metres became held up for clear running behind UNITED ENDEAVORS and leaving the 400 Metres shifted to that runner's inside to secure clear running.
Near the 300 Metres was then disappointed for clear running between UNITED ENDEAVORS and DRAGON DELIGHT and thereafter had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind DRAGON DELIGHT until near the 50 Metres.
Close to the winning post K De Melo dropped his whip.
Lay in under pressure in the Home Straight.
Horse No 3 BOOM ALLIANCE (G220) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 5 MASTER OF LUCK (G276) C Y Ho In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from DEVIL AND GOLD.
Horse No 6 PRESIDENT'S CHOICE (D038) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.
After the race, Z Purton could offer no excuse for his mount's disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of PRESIDENT'S CHOICE was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.
Before being allowed to race again, PRESIDENT'S CHOICE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 7 BAEBAE TSOI (E116) A Hamelin Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.
Horse No 8 ARTHUR'S KINGDOM (E194) H T Mo After the race, H T Mo reported that he was instructed to hold a forward position on his mount and ARTHUR'S KINGDOM raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Trainer Y S Tsui confirmed the instructions issued and said that ARTHUR'S KINGDOM had raced disappointingly at its previous race starts when settling back in the field and therefore he had asked Jockey Mo to take up a more forward position today.
Horse No 10 PRECISION GOAL (H016) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 STARSHIP EIGHTY (H022) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 DEVIL AND GOLD (G443) Y L Chung After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that he was required to make some use of his mount in the early stages to take up a position closer to the rail and as a result DEVIL AND GOLD was not able to finish the race off strongly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 13 ANGELS HUNTER (G193) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No DARCI LEGEND (G376) C Y Ho Withdrawn on 21.12.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter MASTER OF LUCK.
Before being allowed to race again, DARCI LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Early favourite Starship Eighty never went around a horse to come from midfield, take control 200m out and make it consecutive wins following his recent mile victory on the dirt. He is racing well on both surfaces and there is no stopping the Pierre Ng Pan-chi stable. Angels Hunter finished nicely for second after making his run five back on the fence. He is a winner waiting to happen following seconds in both of his starts this term. Dragons Delight just missed the quinella spot after his handy run one off the fence. He relished the downgrade. United Endeavors closed well to nearly place after travelling one off the rail behind midfield. He is mixing his form but has gone well in two of three runs following his downgrade. Boom Alliance closed well near the inside after getting held up early in the home straight. He has the tools to get away with race in this grade soon. Late-fancied favourite Precision Goal weakened in the final 100m after dictating the tempo from gate eight. He is not genuine. Punted late, Super Contented was held up for a good part of the home straight. He should have finished a lot closer.
