Race Five : (273) - HOLLY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 AMAZING TEENS (E449) K C Leung After the race, K C Leung reported that from the 700 Metres his mount was reluctant to improve into a narrow run between NORDIC STAR and BLISSFUL STAR which resulted in AMAZING TEENS being steadied near the 400 Metres and from that point did not finish the race off.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 NORDIC STAR (G433) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 ALL ARE MINE (H293) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly and was bumped shortly after the start.
Approaching the 200 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of M M NEBULA to continue into clear running.
Approaching the winning post shifted out, resulting in its rider Apprentice Y L Chung having to stop riding and straighten.
Horse No 5 BLISSFUL STAR (E168) A Hamelin A Hamelin was fined a sum of $5,000 for using the whip down the horse's shoulder on a number of occasions.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 6 CAN'T GO WONG (H087) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan reported that his mount travelled well when positioned behind the winner NORDIC STAR but when asked to improve into the Home Straight failed to respond to his riding and gave ground over the concluding stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 LEGION OF MERIT (D419) L Hewitson Passing the 150 Metres L Hewitson dropped his left rein for a short distance.
Horse No 10 NINJA DERBY (H339) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 11 ASIAN ONE (E400) M Chadwick From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 12 M M NEBULA (G279) A Atzeni On arrival at the Start, it was noted that M M NEBULA had blood in its mouth.
M M NEBULA was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Nordic Star got up in the final stride after his prominent run on the fence to post his first Hong Kong win on his 10th local start. He had put the writing on the wall last time following a downgrade. Favourite Lucky Banner was nailed late after getting every chance in front from gate two. He is a winner waiting to happen on this surface. Blissful Star stayed on nicely to finish a close third after chasing the speed three wide without cover. He proved a close second last start trying the dirt 1,800m was not a fluke. Legion Of Merit ran on well from the rear to finish a close fourth after his wide trip. He has run well in back-to-back mile races across both surfaces. All Are Mine made good ground late to finish the next best without threatening the top four. Harry's Hero made some ground from behind midfield without looking like filling the frame. Special Hedge ran on OK from behind midfield. He did not build on his last-start turf placing. Punted late, M M Nebula weakened after his pace-stalking run. He is just not good enough at this level.
