Racing Incident Report
Race One: (445) - CITI GLOBAL WEALTH HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
NICE BIRDIE jumped only fairly.
LUCK STAR jumped awkwardly.
From wide barriers, EMERGING, BILLIONAIRE SECRET and STARFIRE GEMS were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 700 Metres, STARFIRE GEMS was steadied when awkwardly placed inside KILLER INSTINCT (B Shinn) which shifted in slightly.
B Shinn was advised to exercise more care.
Near the 350 Metres, NICE BIRDIE was briefly held up behind BRILLIANT PIONEER which was inclined to lay in slightly.
GREEN LASER raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding her riding in the Straight, J Kah stated that from the 800 Metres she was obliged to commence to ride BILLIONAIRE SECRET along to endeavour to improve into the event.
She said whilst BILLIONAIRE SECRET responded to her urgings, it only responded in a one-paced manner and for this reason in the Straight she elected to continue to shift BILLIONAIRE SECRET to the outside of runners to ensure her mount secure clear and unimpeded running.
When questioned as to why she elected not to improve into a run which was available between FORTUNE PRESIDENT and EMERGING near the 200 Metres, she said she was concerned that this run may close as EMERGING was shifting in slightly and this may result in her mount losing momentum.
She added that given the manner in which she was obliged to ride her mount along from the 800 Metres, it would have been detrimental to BILLIONAIRE SECRET's chances if it were to lose momentum at that stage and this was the reason she elected to continue to shift out.
The Stewards found that the tactics adopted by J Kah were reasonable in the circumstances.
After the race, Z Purton could not offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of NICE BIRDIE.
A veterinary inspection of NICE BIRDIE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of KILLER INSTINCT, SUN OF MAKFI and PACKING MONKEYKING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
KILLER INSTINCT, FORTUNE PRESIDENT and BILLIONAIRE SECRET were sent for sampling.

Outsider Fortune President just held on after surging to the lead 200m out from midfield on the fence for a maiden win at his seventh start and first on the surface. He did respond well to win a lead-up trial on the dirt. Billionaire Secret dived late through the center to just miss by a lip after a patient ride towards the rear from a wide draw. He's turned the corner in his past few starts on either surface. Emerging ran on nicely after making his run five back on the fence to make it close on the wire. He relished a return to the dirt at his second run in the grade. Amazing Teens made good ground late down the outside after biding his time second from the rear. He proved a closing third last start. Smart Folks held his ground after getting posted wide early on before slotting one off in third behind the late-fancied leader M M Nebula. It wasn't a bad effort up in grade off a light weight. Brilliant Pioneer stayed on all right from better than midfield. Favourite Killer Instinct made some ground without menacing after making his run one from the rear. He couldn't follow up a near barnstorming win with a step up to dirt 1,650.
