Recap by phillip woo
Firming at short odds-on, Beauty Eternal won with plenty in hand after cruising to the front 250m out following a speed-chasing run behind the leading pair. He's headed to bigger and better things following a fourth win from five starts. California Ten dashed late down the outside to just edge Spirited Express for second after a patient ride one from the rear. He's placed in his past three and can return to the winner's circle at any moment. Spirited Express ran on nicely from better than midfield to just miss second by a bob of the heads. He's run well in back-to-back starts over 1,600m after a 1,800m win in December. All For St Paul's lost a placing late after getting challenged by The Rock for the lead 850m out. He rarely produces a bad run over this trip. Fantastic Treasure made some ground after peeling off the tiring The Rock 150m out from midfield. He had an excuse and the big weight did not help. Cheerful Days made some ground from the rear of the field. Mr Ascendency finished a long last after a handy run wide without cover. He had an excuse and is more effective over 1,400m.
