Circuit Nine dashed well to overhaul odds-on favourite Glory Bo Bo in deep stretch for the win after switching to the far side 400m out travelling second last following a slow start. He didn't beat much in the first Griffin test of the campaign but there's clearly upside to come. Glory Bo Bo was given every chance in front by Zac Purton but found one too good in the end. He'll come on from the experience. Young Sparkle kept on one-paced to hold down a placing after a speed-tracking run on the stands side. It was an OK effort on debut. Joyful Champion held his ground after chasing the speed just underneath Young Sparkle near the grandstand side. Like the latter, it was an all right effort first start here. Lucky Banner never featured after a midfield run in the centre of the course. It was a disappointing effort by the second favourite. Superb Move weakened after a prominent run. He'll need more time and experience. Flying Silver never was a chance travelling one from the rear. He'll need a lot more work.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (624) - THE ARGONAUT PLATE - Class GRIFFIN - 1000Meters

CIRCUIT NINE, which kicked a rail when proving reluctant to enter the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and found to be suitable to race.

CIRCUIT NINE was slow to begin and lay out under pressure over the final 400 Metres.

JOYFUL CHAMPION shifted in at the start and brushed FLYING SILVER which was leaning on the outside of its gate as the start was effected.

In the early and middle stages, LUCKY BANNER lay out and after the 500 Metres shifted out and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of JOYFUL CHAMPION.

After this, LUCKY BANNER continued to lay out.

FLYING SILVER also lay out in the middle stages.

A veterinary inspection of LUCKY BANNER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CIRCUIT NINE and GLORY BO BO were sent for sampling.
