Recap by phillip woo
Champion's Way held off favourite Cheerful Days after hitting the front 200m out following lovely ride one-out, one-back under jockey Zac Purton in the six-horse field. He's honest and had everything go his way to remain perfect twice under Purton. Cheerful Days came from last to make it close on the wire. He's absolutely flying but didn't get the tempo to suit here. Ka Ying Star kept on well to finish third without menacing the top-two tracking the leader Healthy Happy on the fence. He was able to back up a near mile win last start. Healthy Happy got his own way in front and found a few too good in the run to the wire. He's likely on his mark after a win three starts back. Early favourite Excellent Proposal was badly held up for a run the entire straight following a box-seat run. He had a clear excuse. Savvy Nine never featured travelling one from the rear. He clearly is better suited over a longer trip.
