Old-timer Little Bird just out-bobbed The Elites after a wide without cover trip in midfield from an outside draw to ring up a fourth career win. He relished a downgrade and had placed in his only previous run on this surface. The Elites came to win the race near passing the 100m after a rails run in midfield but found one just too good in the end. He seemed to appreciate the wet ground. Regency Gem came from about 15 lengths back and widest out after missing the kick to snatch third on the wire. It was a huge run considering the circumstances and he remains one to following on the surface. Punted late General Trump was overhauled late after working to the lead 100m out following a boxseat run. He's run with merit once on each surface this season and can bob up at any moment. Masterwork knocked up near the 100m after finding the front from a wide draw. He likely prefers a faster surface. Forever City made ground late settling third last after a slow start. It wasn't a bad run first time in the grade carrying top weight. Favourite Garlic Hero never landed a blow settling two deep behind midfield. The wet track possibly played against him in his initial run on this surface.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (84) - CHUNG ON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Both FOREVER CITY and REGENCY GEM were slow to begin with FOREVER CITY then shifting out at the start and bumping REGENCY GEM.

Then despite being vigorously ridden along, REGENCY GEM became detached from the field.

ZELUS bounded in the air at the start and lost ground and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed.

OURGOLDENRULES shifted out at the start and inconvenienced E HONEY and GARLIC HERO.

GARLIC HERO then momentarily raced in restricted room between E HONEY and GENERAL TRUMP after travelling a short distance.

Approaching the 900 Metres, GARLIC HERO shifted in and inconvenienced E HONEY.

Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, GARLIC HERO raced tight between E HONEY and LITTLE BIRD which shifted in.

Approaching the 500 Metres, HOLYSHOWCASING momentarily raced in restricted room between CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN and GENERAL TRUMP which shifted out.

Shortly after entering the Straight, HOLYSHOWCASING was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN.

Passing the 300 Metres, THE ELITES shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN.

Throughout the race, CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, B Shinn was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of GARLIC HERO which was having its first start on the All Weather surface today.

He said the horse did not finish off the race after travelling only fairly during the early and middle stages.

A veterinary inspection of GARLIC HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Also after the race, M Chadwick (GENERAL TRUMP) said that his saddle shifted to the left hand side near the 500 Metres.

A veterinary inspection of CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GARLIC HERO, LITTLE BIRD and THE ELITES were sent for sampling.
