Newcomer Good News kept finding to hold off My Ecstatic after hitting the front 250m out following a pace-stalking run as the raging favourite. He won on raw ability and there's clearly more improvement to come from him. My Ecstatic stayed on nicely for second following a prominent run along the fence. He was fitter for a run and the move to a claimer certainly helped. Mega Bonus ran on steadily after travelling two-to-three deep fore of midfield to fill a placing. It was clearly his best run to date at just his fifth start. Beauty Amigo weakened to finish fourth after quickly rolling to the lead from gate four. He was able to build on an a failure last month. Whiskey Neat came up one-paced when asked for more in the straight run after chasing the speed three deep without cover the entire trip. He's honest but has trouble winning. Touch Faith made some ground late without ever looking a threat settling fourth back and one off the fence. He has failed in his three runs this campaign despite reasonable market support to build on a placing in July and the future does not look bright at all.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (65) - CHENGDU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

BEAUTY AMIGO shifted in at the start and bumped MEGA BONUS which in turn shifted in and inconvenienced FOREVER.

GOOD NEWS shifted out at the start and bumped YOUNG PASSION which lost ground when crowded for room inside TOUCH FAITH.

From the outside barriers, WITTY SCHOLAR, STRATHMORETOO and SUPER FLAMES were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After being ridden along in the early stages, TOUCH FAITH was steadied shortly after the start to obtain cover.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, WHISKEY NEAT was slow to muster speed and throughout the race travelled wide and without cover.

After the race, B Shinn confirmed that it was intended to try and lead the race, however, WHISKEY NEAT did not show sufficient speed to be able to cross runners to its inside in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection of WHISKEY NEAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOOD NEWS got its head on the side and lay out rounding the Home Turn, inconveniencing WHISKEY NEAT.

Then in the early part of the Straight, GOOD NEWS continued to lay out.

After the 400 Metres, TOUCH FAITH was momentarily awkwardly placed inside MY ECSTATIC.

After the 200 Metres, MY ECSTATIC lay out under pressure.

Approaching the 100 Metres, STRATHMORETOO and SUPER FLAMES (H W Lai) bumped, resulting in H W Lai becoming unbalanced.

After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOUNG PASSION had bled from both nostrils.

A veterinary inspection of TOUCH FAITH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GOOD NEWS and MY ECSTATIC were sent for sampling.
